OI change compares the latest market observation with an observation exactly 1h or 24h earlier. Missing history stays unavailable. Funding change compares compatible 8h-equivalent rates over exactly one hour.
Deleveraging means OI fell at least 3% over 24h. Crowded longs or shorts require OI to rise at least 3% and 8h-equivalent funding to reach +0.3% or −0.3%. Leverage building also requires price to rise at least 1%. Other OI rises of at least 3% are expansion; falls of at least 1% are contraction. These are descriptive thresholds, not forecasts.
Hyperliquid publishes current funding hourly. Positive funding generally means longs pay shorts; negative funding generally means shorts pay longs. Rates here are current observations, not settled account payments.
